International Conference on Patient Safety (ICPS)

The Riphah Institute of Healthcare Improvement & Safety (RIHIS), a constituent of Riphah International University, has been at the forefront of advancing healthcare quality and patient safety in the region. Since its inception in 2016, RIHIS has been organizing the International Conference on Patient Safety (ICPS) — the region’s largest multidisciplinary forum dedicated to healthcare quality improvement, patient safety, and system reliability.

The ICPS serves as a global knowledge-exchange platform that brings together key opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, policymakers, regulators, academicians, and industry partners from around the world. Through evidence-based dialogue, cross-sector collaboration, and shared learning, ICPS aims to accelerate progress toward safer, high-quality, and patient-centered healthcare systems.

Historical Overview of ICPS

Riphah International University has been organizing the International Conference on Patient Safety annually since 2016, establishing a strong legacy of fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the healthcare ecosystem.

Technology and Patient Safety

Over the years, ICPS has evolved into a premier platform for advancing regional and global dialogue on patient safety, healthcare quality, and system innovation — fostering partnerships among academia, clinical institutions, regulators, and professional societies.

Objectives of the Conference

  1. Promote Awareness: Enhance understanding of patient safety, healthcare quality, and systems-based approaches among healthcare professionals and organizations.
  2. Foster a Patient-Centered Mindset: Encourage the integration of patient and family perspectives into clinical decision-making and safety improvement initiatives.
  3. Build Capacity: Strengthen the competencies of healthcare professionals involved in quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety programs.
  4. Facilitate Collaboration: Unite diverse stakeholders — including clinicians, administrators, policymakers, researchers, and industry — to share best practices and develop joint strategies for safer care delivery.
  5. Catalyze Research and Policy: Promote applied research and evidence-informed policies to support sustainable improvements in healthcare quality and patient safety.

Mission

“To advance the delivery of safe, high-quality, and equitable healthcare services for every patient through collaboration, education, and innovation.”

The ICPS mission is rooted in the belief that patient safety is a shared responsibility — one that requires collective commitment from healthcare professionals, organizations, and systems at every level. By convening leading global experts and engaging local stakeholders, ICPS continues to drive the national and regional movement toward safer healthcare for all.
