Mr Johannes (Hans) Theodorus Kedzierski managed several large hospitals and health services providers, both in the public and private sect ors. Mr Kedzierski has specialized in leading turnarounds and has facilitated the institutions under his management to significantly improve their overall results, and specifically to gain substantial new market share in their communities.
Since 1992, Mr. Kedzierski has been Chief Executive Officer for six hospitals, ranging in size from 300 to 1200 beds, including general hospitals, teaching hospitals, and mental health service centers. He has also led healthcare institutions in different geographies including UAE, Qatar, and the Netherlands.
Just prior to joining AKUH, K, Mr. Kedzierski was Chief Executive Officer at the Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital in Umm Al Quwain, United Arab Emirates. Here he opened and commissioned a new hospital, which had been constructed and then left idle for a few years. Prior to that, he was CEO of the Al Wakra Hospital in Qatar; CEO for the GGZ Friesland, a major mental health care system; and CEO for a 900-bed hospital in Alkmaar, Netherlands.
Mr. Kedzierski began his career in Jakarta, Indonesia and worked for some time as a quality control officer for General Motors in Detroit, thus initiating his interest in quality improvement.
He has also been a non-executive member of the Board of the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Hospitals (NIAZ) in the Netherlands for the period from 2007 to 2012. He has written several books and articles on health care management and policy. He is a regular guest lecturer at Dutch business schools (MBA program) and is frequently a speaker and/or chairman for conferences and symposia.
